Foods That Can Make Your Mood Better
Mostly, people have been taught to think that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and must be avoided. Often, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be perfectly healthy and good for us to consume. Some foods really do improve your mood when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, you may be amazed to discover, are terrific at battling depression. You should see to it, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. When you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Eat some eggs to feel better!
Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given time. The more of it you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Nuts, on top of raising your mood, can be a great protein source.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.
Grains can be excellent for overcoming a terrible mood. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all great for helping you feel happier. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods also. It’s easy to feel depressed when you feel hungry! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while also relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel healthier. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood too!
You can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are not good for you so you can feel better! Try these suggestions instead!
