Discover How to Boost Your Mood with Food

In general, people have been trained to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and should be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be super healthy and good for you. There are some foods that, when you consume them, could improve your mood. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you battle depression. Just make sure that you don’t toss out the yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can actually help you boost your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Try consuming some eggs to jolly up!

Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is because these foods are high in magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more of it in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Nuts, along with bettering your mood, can be a great source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3s and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly boost your mood.

Grains can be wonderful for fighting a terrible mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are excellent at helping you feel better. They fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods also. Feeling hungry can be terrible! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps improve your mental acuity while having a relaxing effect on the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to become healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood also!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you want to help your moods get better. Try several of these instead!
